Downside of using Safari is lack of browser plugins and although it has Ad Block and Ad Block Plus but you can't use them to block ADS from Flash based videos due to restriction of API, blocking ADS from HTML5 players works fine.Ĭonclusion: FLASH based content sucks for any mobile devices or laptop, it is a convicted battery killer, Chrome sucks for laptop, it consumes way too much energy and cause laptop to run extremely hot, if you don't mind watching ADS from FLASH based videos and somewhat lack of plugins, use Safari. Safari, has advantage of energy saving, only uses between 25 - 80 energy while watching Flash based videos and has advantage of watching HTML5 videos which uses super low energy, the overall average energy Safari consume is around 11 - 20 as indicated in the energy monitor. This subreddit is not endorsed or sponsored by Apple Inc.Ĭhrome causes my machine to be super hot and fans at blazing speed, after checking with Energy in Activity Monitor, its energy using was well over 400 while watching Flash based videos (using most energy) or any other type of videos and has overall average energy using of 200+, on laptop, Chrome is a battery burning slow ass garbage.
